\r\nYOUR POSITION WITH TNC
\r\n
\r\nThe Sustainable Practices Senior Manager provides leadership and supervision of\r\nall aspects in promoting responsible use of coastal and marine resources and\r\nfair shared responsibility of producers and consumer in restoring and\r\nprotecting the ecosystems.

\r\nEssential Functions
\r\n
\r\n

1. \r\nDevelop the business plan and program strategic\r\nplan for blue economy development portfolio, covering responsible aquaculture,\r\nfisheries value added products, ecotourism, marine biotechnology, and blue\r\ncarbon finance program.

2. \r\nImprove community’s livelihoods practices to\r\nmeet the globally recognized standard/certification for environmental and\r\nsocial sustainability.

3. \r\nIdentify and establish market link for products\r\nand services from community’s sustainable practices.

4. \r\nWork together with relevant TNC and YKAN teams\r\nin identifying and evaluating funding opportunities, drafting project\r\nproposals, donor reports, both for public and private sources

5. \r\nAssist IOP Director in undertaking management\r\nresponsibilities as necessary related to blue economy, such as develop key\r\nmaterials for meetings and conference, put together and feed necessary\r\ninformation to the Program Development and Learning unit.

6. \r\nAssist the IOP Director in staff management of\r\nthe sustainable practices, including team building, assessing capacity gaps and\r\ncapacity building needs, and developing strategies to address them in\r\ncollaboration with HRD.

7. \r\nThe Sustainable Practices Senior Manager reports\r\nto the Indonesia Oceans Program Director and is based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Responsibilities And Scope
\r\n
\r\n

1. \r\nGeographic size and scope is that of a larger,\r\ncomplex business unit and/or a program that requires cross-boundary work and\r\nrelationships.

2. \r\nEstablishes and maintains optimal performance\r\nstandards within budget.

3. \r\nContributes in writing for requests for proposal\r\n(RFPs) for grant/contract funding for program.

4. \r\nFrequently makes independently strategic\r\ndecision based on analysis, ambiguous information and judgment.

5. \r\nNegotiates complex agreements, in a political\r\nenvironment.

6. \r\nMay be responsible for leading or co-leading a\r\nwhole system program.

7. \r\nFrequent travel domestically and/or\r\ninternationally, evening and weekend hours.

8. \r\nMay work in variable weather conditions, at\r\nremote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically\r\ndemanding circumstances.

Minimum\r\nQualifications

1. \r\nBA/BS degree and 7 years’ experience in\r\nconservation and community-based economy practice or equivalent combination of\r\neducation and experience.

2. \r\nExperience in coastal community livelihoods\r\nimprovement activities.

3. \r\nEstablished networks with marine products industries\r\nand associations,

4. \r\nFundraising experience, including identifying\r\ndonor prospects and donor cultivation

5. \r\nExperience managing complex or multiple\r\nprojects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other\r\nprofessionals and partners.

6. \r\nSupervisory experience, including motivating,\r\nleading, setting objectives and managing performance.

7. \r\nExperience in partnership development with\r\nnon-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.

8. \r\nExperience negotiating.

Desired\r\nQualifications

1. \r\nMaster’s degree and 7 - 10 years’ experience in\r\ncoastal and marine resources livelihoods, business, economy and conservation\r\npractices or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. \r\nFamiliar with global standard for sustainable\r\npractices in fisheries, aquaculture, tourism.

3. \r\nGood understanding in small-scale enterprise\r\nfinancing and marketing.

4. \r\nKnowledge in blue carbon or carbon financing is\r\nan asset.

5. \r\nExperience developing good governance and\r\nsustainable financing frameworks and systems and building the capacity of local\r\ninstitutional to manage natural resources.

6. \r\nKnowledge of/Experience working with current\r\ntrends and practices in fisheries and marine conservation and Asia-Pacific\r\nregion.

7. \r\nDemonstrated experience influencing, developing\r\nand implementing conservation policy and plans.

8. \r\nDeveloping practical applications of scientific\r\nconcepts and technical innovations for conservation purposes.

9. \r\nKnowledge of methods and standards of\r\nbiodiversity information systems and initiatives.

10. \r\nMotivating team members, setting goals, and\r\nleading efforts.

11. \r\nDelivering practical, adaptable products and\r\nservices to customers.

12. \r\nKnowledge of politics and society with respect\r\nto environmental affairs.

13. \r\nManaging time and diverse activities under\r\ndeadlines while delivering quality results.

14. \r\nCommunicating clearly via written, spoken, and\r\ngraphical means in English and other relevant languages.

15. \r\nDemonstrated success as an inspirational manager\r\nwho has successfully motivated staff to achieve and sustain excellence.

16. \r\nDemonstrated leadership and visionary qualities\r\nand able to work effectively with and through others in a decentralized and\r\ngeographically dispersed organization.

17. \r\nExtensive networking with high-level conservation\r\ncontacts; political savvy.

18. \r\nProven interpersonal, communication, and\r\nnegotiation skills.
