For our Kalimantan Mangrove Shrimp Program in East\r\nKalimantan, Indonesia, we are seeking to fill a new position, starting May\r\n2020. The position will be based in Tarakan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The Position

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a global\r\nmindset and high level of discipline to create results in an efficient and\r\neffective manner, with high standards for the quality of deliverables. You will\r\nbe managing our Kalimantan Mangrove Shrimp Program in Indonesia, working with\r\nfarmers, farming communities, and the participating private sector partners to\r\nsecure the long term success of this program.

Your specific\r\nresponsibilities and tasks:

1.      \r\nProject management for the implementation of the\r\nKalimantan Mangrove Shrimp Program in Tarakan

2.      \r\nOutreach and engagement of shrimp farmers and\r\nfarming communities for participation in the program

3.      \r\nSetup of land ownership/leasing arrangements for\r\nfarms

4.      \r\nOrganization and facilitation of expert\r\nassessments

5.      \r\nAssessment and execution of shrimp pond\r\nhydrological adaptations

6.      \r\nCoordination of mangrove tree planting,\r\nmaintenance, and monitoring

7.      \r\nConduct capacity building and workshops with\r\nfarmers and farming communities

8.      \r\nOrganize and support the creation of farmer\r\ncooperatives or associations

9.      \r\nMaintain documentation and financial records of\r\nproject components

10.  \r\nCollection and monitoring of stocking and\r\nharvest data

11.  \r\nImplementation of ASC standards and safeguard\r\naudit compliance

12.  \r\nCollaboration and coordination with the local\r\nseafood manufacturing partner

Who You Are

You are an Indonesian national interested in working in\r\nIndonesia in the context of aquaculture improvement towards climate change\r\nresilient food production systems. You are socially oriented person with at\r\nleast 10 years of demonstrable working experience in the shrimp aquaculture\r\nsector. Additionally, you have knowledge of mangrove forest restoration and\r\ntheir integration into aquaculture systems. You have an intrinsic desire to\r\ncreate more benefits for local shrimp farming communities in Indonesia and to\r\nimprove the livelihood of farmers and their familie. In addition to a\r\npreferably-international degree in environmental or social science, you should\r\nbring several years of professional experience in the private sector, either in\r\nIndonesia or abroad. This is supplemented with an understanding of the local\r\ncontext of shrimp farming and mangrove forests in Borneo.

Your motivating and collaborative nature enables you to\r\nmaintain clear and efficient channels of communication between numerous partner\r\norganizations. At the same time, you can work independently and take\r\nresponsibility for the completion of tasks. Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia is a\r\nmust, and good communication skills in English is preferred. Sound knowledge of\r\nMS Office is required.
