On 13\r\nDecember 2019, ADISSEO launched a new Research & Development Centre in

\r\n\r\n

Singapore\r\ndedicated to aquaculture.

\r\n\r\n

ASA (Aquaculture\r\nStation by Adisseo) will focus on nutrition, aquatic animal health, and innovative\r\naquatic science technologies. The company appointed a team of aquaculture professionals\r\nto focus on key research topics such as nutrition and health. Located within the Singapore Food\r\nAgency’s (SFA) Marine Aquaculture Centre (MAC),\r\nASA will be able to tap on SFA’s expertise in tropical aquaculture, as well as gain easy access\r\nto use biological materials available at MAC to facilitate its aquaculture research.

\r\n\r\n

ASA aims\r\nto support the farmed fish and shrimp sectors and to answer some challenges of the\r\nfarmed Fish and Shrimp industry by developing strong partnerships with academics\r\nin the APAC region and worldwide.

\r\n\r\n

Singapore \r\n December 13th. With the growing human\r\npopulation and the need for more well-balanced animal proteins, aquaculture will play a major role in the future. The consistent growth of aquaculture\r\nrelies on the supply of optimized feeds at all life stages for all species. Sustainable\r\ndevelopment of aquaculture relies on the physiological well- being, health, growth\r\nand reproductive success of the different species of fish and shrimp reared under\r\nvaried environmental conditions. Solid nutrition and health research must be put in place to\r\nensure that aquaculture concretely contributes to the UN’s sustainable development goals.

\r\n\r\n

Adisseo\r\nhelps to reduce the environmental impact on livestock production, as commercial\r\nfisheries and aquaculture are rapidly \r\nincreasing, and the company mission is to offer solutions to ensure\r\nfood quality and safety, furthermore improving the health \r\nand nutrition needs for the animals.

\r\n\r\n

Furthermore,\r\n it is key to shift from unreliable\r\nand obsolete farming practices to fully- controlled and biosecure systems that mimic agricultural\r\n and livestock models. With his new fully\r\nintegrated Recirculation Aquaculture System (RAS) dedicated to research Adisseo aims to transform and improve\r\nfarm management with the latest monitoring tools (AI, IoT).

\r\n\r\n

To reduce\r\n losses while maximizing productivity and profitability in farms, versatile technologies combined with systematic use of data to provide real-time monitoring will\r\nhelp to achieve these goals and increase farmer reaction time in case of problems.

\r\n\r\n

According to David Bal, Adisseo Head of R&D Aquaculture "With\r\nthis state-of-the-art research facility allowing full control of water parameters,\r\nwe can better understand important factors like stress, nutritional deficiencies\r\nand the impact of diseases on animal performance and mortality. Farm technology and artificial intelligence can greatly improve yields and the development\r\nof new tools will grow continuously to support farmers and feed mills".

The\r\nfundamentals are the optimization of feeds\r\nvia better knowledge of nutrients and energy requirements, feed technology and the\r\ninteraction between pathogen, animal the water. This will be the future of the Aquaculture\r\nindustry.

\r\n\r\n

To achieve\r\na balance system and higher yields, Adisseo will focus on innovations such as:

\r\n\r\n

Feed additives and NIR technology

\r\n\r\n

Alternative ingredient(s)

\r\n\r\n

Palatability and functional feed

\r\n\r\n

Diagnostic tools (stress and diseases)

\r\n\r\n

Precision farming (AI and IoT)

\r\n\r\n

“ Adisseo brings with them in-depth animal nutrition know-how, which will contribute\r\nto the vibrancy of Singapore’ R&D in the agri-food sector. It is important that we leverage\r\non science and technology to grow more with\r\nless as we move towards achieving our”30-by-30” goal, which is to produce 30 per\r\ncent of Singapore’s nutritional needs by 2030 said Dr. Tan Lee Kim,\r\nDirector-General of Food Administration and Deputy CEO of SFA.

\r\n\r\n

With ASA,\r\nAdisseo will provide training on the use of technologies, processes, and best

\r\n\r\n

Practices to shrimp and fish farmers. This new project reinforces the group’s\r\ncommitment towards\r\n the development of sustainable additive solutions\r\nin Asia and worldwide and is part of Adisseo worldwide animal Nutrition & Health\r\nR&D platforms and centers in France, the USA, and China.

\r\n\r\n

ASA research unit is unique\r\nin the region and its aim is to raise the bar to achieve the transition that our\r\nindustry needs. We are very proud to invest in the Aquaculture sector and accelerate\r\ntechnology transfer with our animal nutrition know-how” said Jean-Marc Dublanc, CEO of the Adisseo group.
